Mauritania, is officially the Islam Republic of Mauritania (Yumhuriya Islamiya Mauritaniya), country located on the NorthEast of Africa. Mauritania is placed in Sahel’s region, between the meridians 4º 48’ and 16º 30’ western Greenwich and the parallels 14º 45’ and 27º 22’ North, counts with a coast of 754 KM. It’s territory take up an area of 1.030.700 Km2 which is nearly to the double compared to Spain.

(Vasco Catalana Group) and a local partnership; they act as Agents of Cosco Shipping Lines in this African country. Cosvas Mauritanie has an office located in Nuadhibou Port and an agent in the Capital, Nouakchott.

Import shipments, from ports and inland locations in China, Corea, Japan and South East of Asia through base port of Pusan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yantian, Nansha, Singapore through Suez Channel to Mediterranean ports as Port Said or La Spezia. Furthermore, import shipments dfrom the rest of the world such as North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, India and Oceania via Spanish ports Algeciras, Valencia or Barcelona.

Fishing is the main economic activity of Mauritania. It represents 10% of GDP and between 35 to 50 percent of the export shipments in Mauritania.

The incomes from Fishing becomes the 29% of the state’s budget . It also generates 45.000 direct and indirect jobs which represents 36% of employment. It is estimated that 31% of jobs is generated by artisanal fishing while just 2% by industrial fishing segment.

Mauritania counts with two main fishing ports, Nouadhibou and Nouakchott. Nouadhibou’s port has the best infrastructure and a greater fishing activity and a location dedicated specially to “COASTAL SHIPPING” and commercialized all the discharges of industrial shipping.
